Day 1: Arrival – Kilimanjaro Airport Arusha
Your adventure begins the moment you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your dedicated safari guide welcomes you with a friendly smile. A scenic drive takes you to Arusha, a lively town nestled at the base of Mount Meru. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a city stroll or relax at your lodge surrounded by lush gardens. This day is designed to help you unwind, settle in, and prepare for the incredible safari journey ahead.
Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After a hearty breakfast, head south to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its giant baobab trees and vast elephant herds. As you traverse golden savannahs and acacia woodlands, watch for lions lounging in the shade, graceful giraffes browsing treetops, and migratory birds filling the skies. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing your game drives into the afternoon. Day 3: Tarangire – Lake Manyara National Park
Depart for Lake Manyara National Park, a compact gem set between the Rift Valley escarpment and its shimmering alkaline lake. The park is famous for its unique tree-climbing lions, large hippo pods, and vast flocks of flamingos that paint the shoreline pink. Explore lush groundwater forests alive with monkeys and baboons, before moving onto open plains frequented by elephants and buffalo. In the evening, relax at your lodge overlooking the valley or the lakeshore.
Day 4: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park (via Olduvai Gorge)
Journey through the Ngorongoro Highlands, with a stop at the world-famous Olduvai Gorge, an archaeological site that has revealed some of the earliest human remains. Continue into the Serengeti National Park, the crown jewel of Tanzania. Day 5: Serengeti – Full Day Exploration (Optional Balloon Safari)
Rise before dawn for an optional hot air balloon safari glide silently over the Serengeti as the sun paints the horizon, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush. Spend the rest of the day exploring different regions of the Serengeti, known for its rich predator-prey interactions and seasonal migrations. With your expert guide, track the Big Five and discover hidden corners of the park, from rocky kopjes to vast open plains. Evenings bring campfire stories, fine dining, and the tranquil sounds of the savannah.
Day 6: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha/Departure
After breakfast, journey to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often described as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Descend into this lush volcanic caldera, home to an unparalleled density of wildlife. Spot prides of lions, herds of wildebeest and buffalo, elephants with massive tusks, and if lucky the rare black rhino. After a rewarding game drive and picnic lunch, ascend the crater rim and return to Arusha for your onward flight or optional overnight stay.
